Pratt Street Hartford with CTvisit
I’ve partnered with CTvisit to highlight a handful of businesses located on Pratt Street in Hartford. Pratt Street is a blossoming historic and vibrant section of the downtown area of our capital city here in Connecticut. From Hartford Prints, to the newly opened Gentle Bull Shop, and the bustling new bakery, Bloom Bake Shop, this charming area of Hartford has so much to offer. Pratt Street also hosts a number of great events throughout the year—from its Winter Village to Salsa Social, Puppy Happy Hour, and more.
A new dawn is rising in Hartford and Pratt Street is one of the areas in Hartford working to re-vitalize and re-energize. Located in the very center of Hartford’s Central Business District, Pratt Street Hartford in collaboration with Shelbourne, a development company, hope to bring more retail and new residential units to the area to promote the live, work, play ecosystems many cities who are undergoing redevelopment have employed. There are such great things on the horizon in the capital city and as a resident of Hartford myself, I do feel like we are on the precipice of revitalization. Scroll down for more…

Pratt Street has a 200-year history that dates back to 1814. It has always been home to the finest merchants. Hartford Prints! is a woman owned business that has a decade long tenure on Pratt Street. From local goods, to beautifully curated cards for every season, and apparel, Hartford Prints! has managed to stay on the cusp of unique and avant garde but also trendy and chic. I have been a long time patron here; recently finding the cutest Connecticut inspired onesie for my baby to be. It is my go-to shop when I have to make Connecticut inspired welcome gift bags for visitors from out of town. There is no better way to make people feel welcome than a gift bag with local goods from our state!
New to the block, right next to Hartford Prints! is the Gentle Bull Shop. his shop is a LGBTQ+ women-owned and operated shop curated with hand-selected vintage clothing, local goods, unique brands, house plants, and more. The shop has a very welcoming earthy, homey, and vintage vibe. Although not formally highlighted, this shop is an innovative extension to Gentle Bull Studios, a set of Hartford based photography studios located in historic Parkville. The owners of this shop are steeped in Hartford tradition and are helping re-shape the face of Hartford, one unique business at a time.
Bloom Bake Shop is also new to the block. Set just steps away from Hartford Prints! and the Gentle Bull Shop, this bakery offers a refreshing and quaint picturesque cafe to enjoy fresh flowers, baked goods, and coffee. Their services extend past the doors of their bakery as they offer specialty cakes and also curate flower arrangements for special occasions. I’ve personally patronized this establishment and I am so here for the homemade baked goods.
Other notable businesses to highlight that are on Pratt Street include luxury retail Morneault’s Stackpole Moore Tryon, salon/barbershop Harrison’s House Of Styles, package store Capital Spirits, Painting with a Twist, the oldest barbershop in Hartford Professional Barber Shop, Puerto Rican sandwich shop El Poeta de Los Sandwiches, printing press Minuteman Press, sneaker store the Rundown, Italian restaurant Sorella, Korean restaurant Sunberry Café, premier event venue The Society Room of Hartford, tobacconist The Tobacco Shop, and Vaughan’s Irish Public House. Coming soon to Pratt Street are Urban Lodge brewery, Refuge Tattoos, My Wife Didn’t Cook restaurant, Italian style deli Max Deli, Latin American cuisine El Gallo y El Coqui, and sports bar Corner Three.
