Bloggers Who Brunch Connecticut
Connecticut Bloggers Collective Inaugural Brunch
Hi lovelies! Since I moved to Connecticut two years ago, I have been eager to find a blogger community. Over the last year and a half, I have met so many fabulous Connecticut bloggers; some I actually now call more than acquaintances. For some reason though, my blogger circle was still relatively small and I felt as if there had to be more local bloggers who shared the same notion. So on a whim, I started an instagram called Connecticut Bloggers Collective and started reposting CT Bloggers to it. Everyday, I would find a new blogger or vice verse and I was mind blown at how many CT bloggers there actually were. Before long, a small idea grew legs and started walking; pretty much took on a mind of its own. All of this leads to last Saturday, August 19th, 2017 when I hosted my first blogger event ever and it was amazing. It was a room of 25 blogger ladies who came together as comrades eager to network and learn. We set the stage with a beautifully curated table I designed and beautiful floral center pieces by Eddy Farm in Newington. This set a gorgeous palette for our event hosts, Heirloom Market at Comstock Ferre, to play upon with a fun and delicious, farm to table menu. It was a beautiful, informative, and potent inaugural event. All photos in this post taken by Jessica Meade. Scroll down for more...
#CTBLOGGERSBRUNCH
So as you can imagine, planning this event was what felt like an extraordinary feat. I am gracious and lucky enough to be accompanied on this journey, by Britt'ny who assists with the brand. She was there as the right hand for ground work and hands on the day off. It certainly made my life easier knowing that I had help.
TABLESCAPE
Up until a day before the event, I had an idea for the table setting but was not 100% sure. Thankfully, Eddy Farms sponsored the floral centerpieces so I just touched base with Haley from there to find out what colors she was thinking of incorporating into the florals. After settling on lots of greenery with white and pops of subtle colors, I opted to play on the greenery/rustic farmhouse theme. I ordered white floor length table cloth, burlap runners, and gold/champagne/copper chargers. I have been collecting brass candlesticks for my wedding so I put those to good use for this event. I had a few glass ornamental vases that I threw into the mix. I also made a necessary stop at Ikea. There, I picked up several green/white dish towels to use as napkins, candlesticks, plates, and a few other loose ends. I knew I could gather some fun items at home to fill in here and there so I was not too worried. Overall, it was an elegant table scape. The florals tied in beautifully with the rest of the decor.
BRUNCH MENU
Julia and Spiro at Heirloom Market were awesome. Julia was my main point person and she was incredibly helpful. I simply presented the idea to her, she rolled with it, she created an awesome menu and it was delicious. I love Heirloom Market a lot personally. I really love the idea that you can dine there, buy fresh farm and wholesome products, hang out and do homework, and also in the spring, buy heirloom seed for your garden. In addition, Julia and Spiro are such kind and wonderful people. Our menu consisted of Avocado toast, BLT's, Frittata, Biscuit sandwiches, and mixed green salad, homemade lemonade, and blueberry lemon tarts. Everything was delectable especially the frittata and the biscuits.
WHO WAS THERE?
In attendance were twenty five local Connecticut bloggers. They were style, lifestyle, beauty, food, and travel bloggers. It was an exciting time because we set the names down at random hoping to really connect with each other and meet new people. Once settled, I went around the room and asked people their names, where they come from in Connecticut, what their day job is, and how long they had been blogging. Can you all imagine? Listening to the brief and quick stories of 24 other creatives who are within arms reach. It definitely set the stage for the rest of our brunch.
